Police: Children killed in crash were in safety seats

BRUSHFORK, W.Va. — Sheriff’s deputies in Mercer County said Thursday evening an accident reconstruction team from the State Police will help investigate a three-vehicle crash that killed two preschool-aged children Wednesday evening.

The victims were buckled in age-appropriate child safety seats, according to police, when a car being driven Terri Wright, 28, of Glen Lyn, Va., was hit by two other vehicles.

The accident occurred on U.S. Route 52 just outside of Brushfork on Wednesday evening.

Wright suffered serious injuries and was being treated in a Roanoke hospital. The drivers of the two other vehicles suffered minor injuries.

Deputies have not released the namesĀ or ages of the children who died.
