Some charges dismissed against a Ritchie County teacher

HARRISVILLE, W.Va. — A Ritchie County magistrate made a split ruling Thursday on sex-related charges against a Ritchie High School teacher.

David P. Weekley, 43, of Pennsboro, was arrested by State Police twice in the past two weeks for allegedly committing sex crimes with students. The magistrate dismissed charges in one case during a preliminary hearing Thursday and forwarded charges in the second case on to the June 1 grand jury.

Weekley has been a special education teacher at the school. He was originally charged with second degree sexual assault, first degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual abuse by a parent/custodian.

State Police Troopers are continuing their investigation. They told MetroNews this week they believe there may be more victims.

Weekley remains free on bond.
