Canty tweets he is leaving Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.— On the heels of news breaking that Marshall Basketball Coach Tom Herrion and Marshall were parting ways, it appears The Herd is also losing its young, standout point guard.

Redshirt Freshman Kareem Canty announced through his Twitter account that he would not be returning to Marshall next season.

Canty had been a bright spot for what was otherwise a dismal season for The Herd. Canty was named Third Team All-Conference and to the C-USA All-Freshmen Team. He averaged 16.4 points per game and 5.7 assist per game. Canty also became just the 39th player in the program’s history to score 500 points in a single season.
