Man killed in Mercer crash

BLUEWELL, W.Va. —Investigators believe speed was a factor in a deadly accident that took place Monday night in Mercer County.

Monday night’s accident took out the front porch of this home near Bluewell in Mercer County.

Sheriff’s deputies said Kevin Brooks, 25, of Jenkinjones, was killed after crashing a car on Lorton Lick Road near Bluewell. The car went off the road, struck a utility pole and slammed into the front porch of a roadside house.

Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the car, Steven Neace, 22, of Montcalm, is in critical condition in a Charleston hospital. People were at home in the house that was damaged but were not injured.

Witnesses told deputies the Brooks was speeding.
