MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A boy hit by a train in Martinsburg Monday could be released from a Virginia hospital soon according to police.

Investigators said Tuesday the 15-year-old boy was in stable condition after being struck by a CSX engine as he walked on the tracks near Raleigh Street and Tavern Road Monday evening. Eyewitnesses told police the boy was wearing headphones and apparently didn’t hear the train.

He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.

This kid may not have heard the train, bit I bet he felt it. He's very lucky to be alive and should have known better than to walk on a train track, especially with head phones on. I expect this will break him of that habit. I'm very glad to hear that he is recovering....Train tracks are inherently very dangerous, whether at crossings or walking along the right of ways. A loaded train traveling at speed cannot stop in a short distance, nor swerve to miss a pedestrian. The Lord was certainly looking out for this kid.

The young man was trespassing. The tracks are railroad property. He's very lucky. Let's hope he recovers fully and has learned his lesson.

  • Hello, McFly

Walking on the train tracks wearing headphones..................brainless.

What? No liberals screaming to outlaw trains! How about earphones? Does the mayor of Charleston desire a ban on music too?
