Martinsburg teenager hit by train shows improvement

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A boy hit by a train in Martinsburg Monday could be released from a Virginia hospital soon according to police.

Investigators said Tuesday the 15-year-old boy was in stable condition after being struck by a CSX engine as he walked on the tracks near Raleigh Street and Tavern Road Monday evening. Eyewitnesses told police the boy was wearing headphones and apparently didn’t hear the train.

He was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital for treatment.
