Judge refuses to lower Virginia man’s bail

WHEELING, W.Va. — An Ohio County circuit judge refused to lower bail Wednesday for a Virginia man being held on a fugitive charge.

Charles Severance, 53, remains in the Northern Regional Jail on $100,000 bail as he continues to fight extradition to Virginia. Police in Alexandria, Virginia want to talk with Severance about three murders.

The next extradition hearing is set for March 31. Severance refused to waive extradition earlier this week. His attorney told the judge Wednesday his client’s arrest was a “sham.”
