Man who allegedly stole car with baby inside pleads not guilty.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A trial date is scheduled for April 14 for the Elkview man who’s accused of stealing a car that had a baby inside that was left running in a convenience store parking lot on Charleston’s East End earlier this year.

Christopher Linville, 20, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court. He was recently indicted on charges of child neglect and possession of a stolen car.

Linville allegedly took the car Jan. 6 after the mother went into the convenience store near the state capitol. Police don’t believe Linville knew a 10-month-old baby boy was in the backseat.

The car with the baby inside was spotted within a few minutes by an off-duty Charleston police officer. Linville was arrested in a nearby apartment complex.
