Herd splits doubleheader in NC

WILMINGTON, N.C.— Marshall split a doubleheader on their first day in North Carolina. The Herd won its first game, 8-5 over UNC Wilmington but dropped the second game to NC A&t 4-1.

Marshall swiped ten bases in its three-run victory over UNC Wilmington. Freshman Morgan Zerkle stole four bases while Savannah Webster and Shaelynn Braxton homered to propel Marshall to the win.

The Herd’s offense couldn’t get started in the second game. It’s lone run came in the bottom of the fifth thanks to a pair of walks and two hits in the inning.
