Ohio State blanks The Herd 4-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State scored two runs in the second inning and that would be all the Buckeyes needed to down Marshall 4-0 during Wednesday night.

Marshall stater Alex Thackston gave up two runs on three hits in just 1 1/3 innings of work. Junior Clint Wilson was effective in three innings of relief, giving up just one run on three hits.

Ohio State extended its lead in the fifth when shortstop Nick Segrakis led off the inning with a double off Wilson then later came around to score.

Ohio State tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning. Catcher Aaron Gretz tripled to start the inning and came in to score two batters later on a sacrifice fly.

Marshall used eight pitchers in the game who combined for nine strikeouts.

Marshall returns to conference play this weekend as it plays host to Tulane at Appalachian Power Park.
