CWA informational pickets scheduled for Friday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Members of the Communication Workers of America have announced informational pickets will be held across West Virginia Friday. The union is in contract negotiations with Frontier Communications.

A third contract extension is scheduled to end at midnight Saturday. The contract expired Aug. 2, 2013 but the CWA and Frontier negotiated the extensions.

In announcing the informational pickets, the union said it would turn car windshields red in the Frontier parking lot in Charleston. CWA members will also wear camouflage clothing in a show of solidarity.

The contract covers about 1,600 Frontier employees in West Virginia.

The CWA previously said the water crisis cancelled some contract talks earlier in the year.
