RUPERT, W.Va. — Eight miners were injured when the mantrip they were riding underground at a Greenbrier County mine apparently lost its brakes on an incline.
The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training says none of the injuries is life threatening. Five miners were taken to Greenbrier Valley Medical Center where three of them were treated and released. Three other miners declined treatment.
The accident happened around midnight Tuesday when the mantrip was taking miners into Greenbrier Minerals Mountaineer Pocahontas No. 1 mine for a maintenance shift.
