MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The man who killed a Monongalia County deputy by slamming into his sheriff’s cruiser during a high-speed chase pleaded guilty Monday to related charges.
Jared Green, who was previously convicted in Pennsylvania for causing the 2012 death of Sgt. Todd May, pleaded guilty to third-offense DUI and two charges connected to fleeing a police officer. Green faces five to 18 years in prison on the newer charges. He is already serving a 25- to 50-year sentence on a third-degree murder conviction in Pennsylvania.
May was in his cruiser near the Pennsylvania-West Virginia state line when Green—traveling south on Interstate 79—slammed into the cruiser. The police chase started near Morgantown before stretching into Pennsylvania and turning back toward Morgantown.
No sentencing date has been set in connection with Monday’s conviction.
