Miner indicted in record keeping case

WHEELING, W.Va. — A coal miner who worked at the Tunnel Ridge Mine in Ohio County has been charged with falsifying safety records.

A federal grand jury indicted Sean Chase, 31, of Spencer, Monday for allegedly claiming to be a mine foreman and making false representations and certification in mine safety records. It was a 29-count indictment.

If convicted, Chase, who was not certified as a foreman, could face up to 10 years in prison for falsifying documents.
