Diffenderfer propels Herd over EKU 7-3

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — T.J. Diffenderfer blasted his first home run of the season and went 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead Marshall to a 7-3 win over Eastern Kentucky.

The Herd’s offense, which has struggled throughout the first half of the season, showed signs of ending its slump. In addition to Diffenderfer’s perfect day at the plate, freshman Corey Bird was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI, while Sergio Leon was 2-for-4 and Andrew Dundon went 3-for-4.

Marshall (12-18) received a quality start from sophomore Chase Boster, who scattered four hits and struck out five in 4 2/3 innings of work.

Marshall will be a home Wednesday to host Ohio University.
