Kanawha man sentenced for brutal beating

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The prison sentence for the Kanawha County man who abducted, beat and tortured a woman in the Witcher Creek area in late 2012 will last for at least two decades.

On Wednesday, Joey Keith Jeffery, 45, of Belle was sentenced to 24 years to life in Kanawha County Circuit Court for the attack on Leanna Quinn.

At one point during the attack, a plastic bag was used to cover Quinn’s head after she was thrown into the back of a truck.  She was severely beaten for what State Police originally said were drug-related reasons.

Cindy Creathers, 37, of Belle is currently serving a one to five year sentence for her role in the beating and robbery of Quinn.

She claimed Jeffery forced her to be part of the crimes by threatening her life.
