RED HOUSE, W.Va. — Any charges against a Putnam County woman for the shooting death of her former boyfriend will probably lie with the Putnam County grand jury.
Curtis Adams, 31, was hit with a shotgun blast early Saturday morning when he kicked in the door of his ex-girlfriend at a mobile home along Grandview Ridge Road in the Red House Hill area.
“He was out on bond for violation of a protective order,” said Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese. “We had that in place and we also had a current protective order in place. He was not currently living at the residence. We had three calls there in the last six months.”
Adams fled the home and flagged down a passing motorist for help. The passerby took him to the nearby Route 34 Volunteer Fire Department looking for help, but he died by the time EMS arrived.
Deweese said so far no charges have been filed.
“It’s still under investigation,” he said. “We’ll complete our investigation and provide that to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office. More than likely it will be presented to the grand jury in this coming term.”
There were five children inside the mobile home at the time of the shooting. They were not injured.
