Couple pleads guilty to trout charges

FARMINGTON, W.Va. — A Harrison County Couple was charged and pleaded guilty to violating the state’s trout fishing laws.

Natural Resources Police cited Michael Fetty, 70, and Tammy Fetty, 46, both of Wallace, W.Va. after several months of investigation. Officers determined the pair would fish almost daily at Curtisville Lake and Huey Run Lake, both in Marion County, and catch varying numbers of trout.

Officers searched the Fetty’s home and found 75 trout fromĀ 2012, 90 trout from 2013, and 156 trout dated 2014 including the dozen the couple had on a stringer when they were approached by officers at Curtisville Lake March 19.

Each was cited for exceeding possession limit and conspiracy. Both pleaded guilty to the charges April 2 in Harrison County magistrate court. Each was required to pay $660.50 in fines, court costs, and replacement fees.

The individual daily creel limit forĀ  trout is six and the total an individual can have in their possession at any one time is 12.
