Former Walker Machinery worker gets prison time

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A former worker for Walker Machinery has been sentenced to spend two years in federal prison for defrauding the company.

Mark Trump, 44, of Beckley, was the branch manager at Walker Express Store in Crab Orchard when he would give equipment rental discounts to some customers if they would pay him in cash or personal check. He then put the money into a personal bank account.

Federal prosecutors said Trump covered the fraud by creating rental agreements with customers and then deleting them from the company’s computer system.

Trump was sentenced to prison Thursday and ordered to pay $367,000 in restitution. He was convicted on a federal wire fraud charge.

Prosecutors said the scheme cost Walker Machinery $350,000. Trump put $90,000 in his own account.
