Man dead in U.S. 60 crash in Kanawha County

COAL MOUNTAIN, W.Va. — A Putnam County man was killed in a Thursday afternoon traffic accident on U.S. Route 60 in western Kanawha County.

Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies said Timothy Fox, 52 of Black Betsy, was a passenger in a pick-up truck being driven by his wife, 42-year-old Melinda Fox at about 3 p.m. on Coal Mountain about a quarter of a mile from the Putnam County line. Deputies said Fox, believed to be traveling at a high rate of speed, went off the road to the right, back into traffic to the left and then back off the road on the right where the truck hit an embankment and overturned.

Timothy Fox was pronounced dead at the scene. Melinda Fox was trapped in the wreckage. She was later taken to CAMC General.

Sheriff’s deputies are continuing their investigation.
