ELKVIEW, W.Va. — The identity of the human remains found Saturday night in Kanawha County is still not known.

An ATV rider found the remains, which reportedly showed signs of decomposition, in the Coopers Creek area near Elkview.

It was not immediately clear how long the remains had been at the spot where they were discovered or what may have caused the death of the victim.

Deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
