Lawmakers return to capitol for interim committee meetings

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — State lawmakers will take a brief break from their May Primary Election campaign efforts to come to Charleston Monday for a brief monthly interim committee meeting schedule.

Not all lawmakers will be needed at the capitol because only three committees are meeting and all three on Monday. Interims are usually three days long.

The meetings include the Commission on Special Investigations at 11 a.m., the Post Audits Subcommittee at 1 p.m. and the Joint Committee on Government and Finance at 2 p.m.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has already promised a special session in conjunction with next month’s interims. It will come after the election.

Every seat in the 100-member House is up for election this year and 17 of the 34 seats in the state Senate. The Primary Election is May 13.
