Concord picks new president

ATHENS, W.Va. – Concord University’s new president is a familiar face on campus. The university’s Board of Governors has selected Dr. Kendra Boggess as the school’s 12th president, pending approval by the state Higher Education Policy Commission.

Boggess has been serving as the school’s interim p resident since last July, and before that she was associate dean and interim vice president.   If approved by the HEPC, she will officially become the Athens school’s new President July 1st.

Presidential Search Committee Chairman David Barnette said Boggess was chosen after a nationwide search.  “We were lucky to have three very highly qualified candidates,” Barnette said.  “We believe Kendra Boggess is going to be a great leader.  We believe we have made the best choice going forward and looking toward the future.”

Boggess says she’s ready for the challenge.  “I am honored to have been selected and look forward to working with all of my colleagues in moving the institution forward and achieving the University’s mission and goals,” Boggess said.

Boggess has worked at Concord for nearly three decades.  She holds degrees from the University of Florida, Virginia Tech and St. Petersburg Junior College.
