New management to take over at Canaan

DAVIS, W.Va. — U.S. Hotel and Resort Management will operate Canaan Valley Resort State Park in Tucker County for the next five years beginning in July.

The subsidiary of The Ramkota Companies, Inc. — which already operates state parks in Ohio and South Dakota along with a list of resorts in other areas — will take over Canaan’s operations near Davis when the current management contract with Guest Services, Inc. ends on June 30.

Officials with the West Virginia State Park system said Wednesday the management contract with U.S. Hotel and Resort Management also includes the operation of the restaurant and food services at nearby Blackwater Falls State Park.

The Canaan Valley Resort property is made up of 160 lodge rooms, 23 cabins, a golf course and clubhouse along with conference space, a dining room, a lounge and a cafe.  It is a four season resort.
