Herd takes 2-of-3 from La Tech

CHARLESTON, W.Va.– Despite taking two of three from Louisiana Tech this past weekend, Marshall is still on the outside looking in for the Conference USA Tournament. However, The Herd control its own destiny heading into the final two series of the regular season.

Marshall plays host to Old Dominion this weekend and will travel to Middle Tennessee State to conclude the regular season. Both teams sit directly ahead of Marshall in the standing.

Eight of the league’s 13 teams will qualify for the tournament in Hattiesburg, Miss. Marshall currently sits at 10th, at 10-13 in C-USA.

The Herd couldn’t complete a sweep of La Tech Sunday afternoon at Appilachian Power Park. Marshall trailed 8-3 heading into the final inning but it’s ninth inning rally came up just short.

With two runners on, T.J. Diffenderfer rifled an two-RBI triple to cut the deficit in half. Diffenderfer came into score on a sacrifice fly by Andrew Dundon but that is as close as Marshall would get.
