Liquidation sales to start this week for Coldwater Creek

WILMINGTON, Del. — Going-out-of-business sales will begin Thursday at Coldwater Creek’s 370 retail stores, including those in Charleston and Morgantown.

On Tuesday, a U.S. bankruptcy judge in Wilmington, Del. approved a liquidation plan between Coldwater Creek and two liquidators — Hilco Merchant Resources and Gordon Brothers Retail Partners.

Coldwater Creek, a women’s apparel retailer, has not been profitable since 2007.  In addition to its stores, the company, which is based in Sandpoint, Id., also operates a distribution facility in Wood County.

As part of its Apr. 11 bankruptcy filing, the company listed $278 million in assets and a total debt of $361 million.
