OAK HILL, W.Va. — A doctor in Fayette County has entered a Kennedy plea on drug charges following allegations that he overprescribed medications and, in some cases, traded prescription pain pills for sexual favors.
According to State Police, Dr. Oscar Gosien of Oak Hill entered that plea to three counts of constructive delivery of a controlled substance earlier this week. He’ll be sentenced on July 3.
A Kennedy plea is a guilty plea in which a defendant does not admit guilt, but admits the prosecution’s evidence would likely be enough for a judge or jury to find that defendant guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
In addition to State Police, deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Oak Hill Police Department were part of what’s called an “extensive” investigation focused on Gosien.
