CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston police are investigating two crime scenes in connection with an infant’s death.
Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper said a baby was found dead in a car seat in a car on Venable Ave. in Kanawha City Wednesday afternoon. Cooper said the child was just weeks old. Police are treating the death as a homicide.
Cooper said the person of interest is the father. He was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a self-inflicted wound.
Police also were checking out a second crime scene in Putnam County. Detectives went to Hurricane Wednesday evening.
