CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston police are investigating two crime scenes in connection with an infant’s death.

Charleston police were investigating crime scene in Kanawha City neighborhood Wednesday evening.

Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper said a baby was found dead in a car seat in a car on Venable Ave. in Kanawha City Wednesday afternoon. Cooper said the child was just weeks old. Police are treating the death as a homicide.

Cooper said the person of interest is the father. He was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon with a self-inflicted wound.

Police also were checking out a second crime scene in Putnam County. Detectives went to Hurricane Wednesday evening.
