Body found in Ohio River

NEW CUMBERLAND, W.Va. — An investigation is underway after a body was found Friday morning in the Ohio River in Hancock County.

The man’s body was spotted by workers at a plant across the river in Ohio and removed from the water by Jefferson County, Ohio authorities but the investigation was turned over to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.

The body was located between Stratton and New Cumberland.

Police said they would be checking missing persons lists.
