Gilmer County's complete domination of Buffalo should come as no surprise. Gilmer was way better all year long.

GO IRISH . BRING IT HOME

The coverage in the paper was great and front page a couple times. Nice to see good stories on the front instead of latest arrests. Good coverage promotes the sports teams and Ravenswood had huge crowds at many games this year. Great support to a program back on track.

Jason. I'm not sure what "county newspapers" you are referring to about recognition. Apparently you don't read The Jackson Herald and Jackson Star-News. Both papers had stories on every Red Devil game this season. In addition, they had excellent photos and features. In fact, I know at least once...maybe more in which they were on the front page of the paper.

John, I agree with the comment about Ravenswood baseball. The coaches and kids done a tremendous job this year. Its sad that they got no recognition at all from anyone not even the county newspapers. Ravenswood baseball is back for years to come.

Gilmer County dominates Buffalo on their way to the State Tournament for the first time since they won the title in 2001. Coincidentally they defeated Buffalo in the State Semis that year. Let's Goooo Titans

Wheeling Park playing real good right now!Played lights out against Morgantown except for small hiccup in late innings but regrouped and finished like the winners they are!!Go Patriots!!

The come back of Ravenswood program has been tremendous, I am definitely a fan. Great job.

I was at the Chapmanville-Poca game and it was an outstanding high school baseball game highlighted by 2 outstanding pitching performances. Poca's Jake Payne had an outstanding week by following up his performance in holding Hoover over three innings Monday evening with another 6 innings of unearned runs Wednesday.

With the exception of the blown reversal of Payne's home run and inconsistency behind the plate, it was an almost perfect high school baseball game. It would have been interesting to see how Chapmanville would have responded had the game gone to the bottom of the 7th as it should have.

Blown call??? They reversed it and got it right! If a ball sticks in the fence and does not leave the park, that is a ground rule double. He thought it went out and signaled home run. Upon going to the right field fence and seeing the ball wedged in it, he called dead ball, ground rule double. Learn the rules!!!! Blown call......sheesh

      • Aaron

I was less than 10 feet from the fence when the ball cleared the top of the mat and wedged between the mat and the fence. The umpire was talked into the call by the right fielder and a fan at the fence. It was a blown call.

Time for the Chapmanville Tigers to bring

4 new teams from triple A in Charleston this year. Baseball in WV is very competitive and evenly matched. Good luck to Washington.

  • Jason

Congrats to Chapmanville and Man. Good luck in Charleston.
