MORGANTOWN, W.Va.– One of the WVU students accused of hazing at a WVU fraternity will spend 48 hours in jail.
William Sousa, 21, of Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, was sentenced Thursday morning in Monongalia County Magistrate Court. He’ll also spend nine months on probation and pay a $1,000 fine.
Sousa pleaded “no contest” to the November 2013 incident at the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity house on North Spruce Street. Prosecutors called the incident a “planned attack” on the victim.
Two other co-defendants are scheduled to be in court for a hearing on June 23. California resident Andrew Nemes and Morgantown resident Christopher Lazzell were also arrested and charged with hazing.
