Boy injured after being struck by train in McDowell County

WAR, W.Va. — A nine-year-old boy was struck by a train Sunday night in the McDowell County town of War.

“A boy with Down’s Syndrome, after this family went to sleep, slipped out of his house and unfortunately got hit by a train there in War,” according to McDowell County Sheriff Martin West.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken by helicopter to Bristol (TN) Regional Medical Center where he was in stable condition Monday morning.
