Troopers ready to step into action

INSTITUTE, W.Va. — There are 27 new West Virginia State Police Troopers following graduation ceremonies that took place Friday at West Virginia State University.

The troopers recently completed six months of training at the State Police Academy in Institute. Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin was among those to address the cadets at Friday’s ceremony.

The cadets make up the 64th Cadet Class.

The State Police released a list of the graduates and their assignments:

 

Trooper Justin Tyler Blevins, age 24, from Parkersburg, WV and a 2008 graduate of Parkersburg High School will be assigned to the Harrisville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Christopher Alan Boner, age 28, from South Charleston, WV and a 2004 graduate of South Charleston High School will be assigned to the Quincy Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Damon Michael Brock, age 26, from Dunmore, WV and a 2006 graduate of Pocahontas County High School will be assigned to the Marlinton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Sumner Daniel Brody, age 26, from Ceredo, WV and a 2007 graduate of Spring Valley High School will be assigned to the Huntington Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Jillian Melain Browning, age 26, from Beckley, WV and a 2006 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School will be assigned to the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Browning is a 2009 graduate from WVU Institute of Technology where she obtained a BA degree in Industrial Relations and Human Resources.

 

Trooper George Curtis Burnem, age 30, from Sandyville, WV and a 2001 graduate of Ravenswood High School will be assigned to the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Seth Daniel Cook, age 29, from Vienna, WV and a 2003 homeschool graduate will be assigned to the Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Cook is also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.

 

Trooper Patrick Terrence Cullinan, age 30, from Glen Dale, WV and a 2002 graduate of Brooke High School will be assigned to the Paden City Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Cullinan is a 2008 graduate from West Liberty State College where he obtained a BS degree in Criminal Justice.Trooper Cullinan is also a veteran of the United States Army.

 

Trooper Nicholas Carl DeMedici, age 29, from Morgantown, WV and a 2003 graduate of Morgantown High School will be assigned to the Kingwood Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Dustin Donell English, age 27, from Wheeling, WV and a 2005 graduate of Wheeling Park High School will be assigned to the Wheeling Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper English is also a veteran of the United States Navy.

 

Trooper Bryan Richard Gaus, age 35, from Wheeling, WV and a 1997 graduate of Wheeling Central Catholic High School will be assigned to the Moundsville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Gaus is a 2001 graduate from Wheeling Jesuit University where he obtained a BA degree in History.

 

Trooper Jonathan Burley Grose, age 32, from Beckley, WV and a 2000 graduate of Shady Springs High School will be assigned to the Hamlin Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Grose is also a veteran of the United States Army.

 

Trooper Dustin Glenn Hebb, age 26, from Philippi, WV and a 2005 graduate of Philip Barbour High School will be assigned to the Webster Springs Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Hebb is also a veteran of the United States Army.

 

Trooper Patrick Marshall Hephner, age 26, from Yorktown, VA and a 2006 graduate of Tabb High School will be assigned to the Princeton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Hephner is also a veteran of the United States Navy.

 

Trooper Brian Christopher McCormick, age 25, from Leon, WV and a 2006 graduate of Point Pleasant High School will be assigned to the Mason County Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Seth Andrew McDonald, age 25, from Ravenswood, WV and a 2007 homeschool graduate will be assigned to the Grantsville Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Sean Strauss Michael, age 27, from Parkersburg WV and a 2005 graduate of Parkersburg High School will be assigned to the Parkersburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Shane Garrett Milam, age 24, from Fayetteville, WV and a 2008 graduate of Fayetteville High School will be assigned to the Beckley Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Dale Randell Murray Jr., age 28, from Bluefield, WV and a 2005 graduate of Bluefield High School will be assigned to the Welch Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.Trooper Murray is also a veteran of the United States Army.

 

Trooper Jared Steven Newman, age 28, from Moundsville, WV and a 2003 graduate of John Marshall High School will be assigned to the Paden City Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.  Trooper Newman is a 2011 graduate from West Virginia University where he obtained a BS degree in Criminology and Investigations.

 

Trooper Richard Lane Paynter, age 30, from Cyclone, WV and a 2001 graduate of Oceana High School will be assigned to the Jesse Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Matthew Corey Shifflette, age 24, from Corinne, WV and a 2008 graduate of Wyoming East High School will be assigned to the Jesse Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Michael David Strobbe, age 36, from Ripley, WV and a 1996 graduate of Ripley High School will be assigned to the Elizabeth Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.  Trooper Strobbe is a 2001 graduate from Fairmont State College where he obtained a BS degree in Criminal Justice.

 

Trooper Cody Zane Thompson, age 28, from Wintersville, OH and a 2004 graduate of Indian Creek High School will be assigned to the Wellsburg Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper Frank Joseph Turansky IV, age 26, from Buckhannon, WV and a 2006 graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School will be assigned to the Philippi Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.

 

Trooper William Seth Weakley, age 30, from Carpendale, WV and a 2002 graduate of Frankfort High School will be assigned to the Keyser Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.  Trooper Weakley is a 2006 graduate from Fairmont State University where he obtained a BS degree in Criminal Justice.

 

Trooper David Blaine Whited, age 34, from Bluefield, WV and a 1998 graduate of Bluefield High School will be assigned to the Princeton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police.
