Mining accident in Raleigh County seriously injures one

RALEIGH, W. Va. — The West Virginia Office of Miners’ Health, Safety and Training confirms a serious incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Alpha Natural Resources’ Marfork Coal Slip Ridge #1 Mine in Raleigh County.

One miner was seriously injured and was transported to a local medical facility.

No additional injuries have been reported.

WVOMHS&T inspectors are on site, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
