MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — A heavy storm moved through parts of Hardy County Sunday and some say the damage looks that from a tornado.
Residents tell MetroNews 100-year-old trees were taken down along the South Fork of the South Branch of the Potomac River some eight miles from Moorefield. Several camp sites were damaged by the large trees.
The storm happened Sunday evening at about 5:30 it contained heavy wind and rain. There was also tree damage reported on Durgeon Run near U.S. Route 220.
The Hardy County 911 Center said it rained three inches in just a few hours.
There was a tornado last Wednesday night in Cabell County. The National Weather Service confirmed Friday that it had touched down briefly near Ona. There were no injuries.
