CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Patriot Coal is moving its headquarters from downtown Charleston to Putnam County. A company spokesperson confirmed the move to MetroNews Friday afternoon.

Patriot’s West Virginia corporate offices have been at Laidley Tower. The new location is the International Coal Group building just off the Interstate 64 Teays Valley exit.

The move is expected soon.

Patriot has approximately 100 workers at its Charleston headquarters.

Can we move this coal company and its fat-cat tycoons to Mars?

  • RB

I don't think Arch is still in the building.

    • Tony

As of June 17, Arch is still there.

  • The Answer

I can hear Dollar Danny screaming now, losing all that " user fee" money plus all other money they spend at lunch time.
    What a pity.

  • Tony

This story would have been more complete if it told the reader where the building's current occupant (Arch Coal) is moving to. By the way, ICG has not been on that building for years. It has been Arch Coal for a while.

    • Janette

Yes, tell us where Arch is moving to as I'm looking for another position. Do not want to drive west of Charleston. Sit here everyday and watch the bottleneck that is Oakwood Bridge.

    • Aaron

If you drive by, the name of the building is the "ICG Coal Group" building which is why it is called the "ICG Coal Group" building.

      • Tony

No, you're wrong. That was years ago.
