Congrats to all of the kids here - but this is a coaches submission of the kids - I have seen this first hand - if the coach doesn't like you or your parents you will never be submitted for anything. I have seen a kid being recruited - get a scholarship offer and go on to play and never even be mentioned because the coach did not submit him. The kid batted .437 & led the team in BA, hits, RBI’s, and OBP and never even was mentioned on all state - the team was also above .500 and played with the state champions for 6 innings and he had 2 hits in the game. So I guess this is more a coach’s popularity poll! Why would you label it a writer’s selection when the coaches submit them and no more research is even done. You might want to look into this because there are several kids deserving these honors that never get the chance because of the system – or send out the rosters of all the kids to the coaches and let the other teams coaches select the team – more fair to the kids! Sounds like a lot of work – but if a kid stands out – the coach will remember it!
