Haddox set to lead the North in North-South Classic

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — North coach Bill Haddox (East Fairmont) is set to lead the Bears into Saturday’s annual North-South Football Classic from Charleston.

The North is looking to bounce back from a 43-14 setback a year ago to the South.

“We have a good group of young men – they all have respect for each other because they know you have to work hard to be good at what you do,” Haddox said on the MetroNews Statewide Sportsline. “We tried to get a variety of kids and we wanted the guys who were fast – and we did. We have two kids who can really throw the ball well, along with a really fast kid (in the backfield) from Keyser.

“We decided we’re going to open it up instead of trying to run over (the South),” he continued. “Of course, I think the South is a little bit bigger than us anyway, as far as size goes. Our kids have caught the ball really well and they have some speed. You tell them something and they do it – it’s just fun to watch them.”

The complete interview with Haddox is posted above.
