South thumps North as Wahama’s Roush earns MVP

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A strong second half pushed the South to a 46-26 win over the North in Saturday’s North-South Football Classic. The North led 14-13 at the break, but the South answered with five straight touchdowns in the second half to pull away.

Wahama running back/defensive back and Charleston signee Kane Roush was named the South’s MVP after forcing a fumble and then returning the ball 75-yards for a score. Roush also added a 35-yard interception return as well on the night.

Huntington’s Nick Tubbs caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns for the South as well in the win.

For the North, it was Washington’s Kendell Smith bringing in seven passes for 120 yards and one touchdown.
