Large logs scattered along busy highway

HURRICANE CREEK, W.Va. — A main north-south route through West Virginia was closed Monday afternoon when the driver of a log truck lost control of the vehicle spilling its load.

The log truck overturned Monday afternoon in the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 35.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of U.S. Route 35 near the intersection of Hurricane Creek Road.

Northbound traffic was rerouted onto the old Route 35, now called Route 817. Putnam County emergency dispatchers didn’t immediately know how long it would take to clear the highway of the large logs.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
