Bank robbery plea in Kanawha County

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County circuit judge accepted a man’s guilty plea to a bank robbery charge Thursday but didn’t okay his request for home confinement.

Stephen Spires admitted to robbing the Chase Bank branch on Washington Street East last October. he faces 10-20 years in prison when he’s sentenced in August.

There are two co-defendants in the case, Bernice White and Sandra Mullins. Mullins is scheduled to go on trial beginning Monday. White still must have a mental competency exam.
