Team USA softball comes to Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The U.S. National Softball team is touring the country preparing for the World Championships later this summer and will kickoff its exhibition season this week in Morgantown.

Team USA will play an exhibition doubleheader Thursday evening at Hawley Field. The roster is made up of the best college players from across the country and will compete against an all-star team of college players from Pennsylvania.

“It’s been one of the most competitive years ever and they think it is one of the best,” says Dave Plevich with the Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Thursday’s game will be the first one for Team USA since the roster was trimmed to 17 players. Team USA is also holding a youth clinic Wednesday for more than 150 girls from the Morgantown area.

General admission is $15 and VIP Tickets are $20. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the first pitch set for 6 p.m.
