Wood County man dies in church accident

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A Parkersburg man died this week while doing maintenance work at a church gymnasium. Parkersburg Police identified the victim as Bernard R. Williams, 79.

Williams reportedly fell through the ceiling of the gym at South Parkersburg Baptist Church when a portion of the drywall ceiling broke. Williams, who was changing a filter on a heating and cooling system at the time, fell an estimated 25 feet.

A church custodian found his body.

It happened on Tuesday.
