Charges possible following police pursuit/crash in Hardy County

MOOREFIELD, W.Va. — Police said Monday charges are expected following a pursuit in Hardy County Sunday.

Sunday at about 6:15 p.m. West Virginia State Police trooper B.W. Thorn was attempting a traffic stop in Moorefield but the driver Terry Morris of Mathias failed to yield and fled onto U.S. Route 48 heading eastbound before exiting onto state Route 259 in Baker in Hardy County.

During the pursuit Morris’ vehicle smashed into a Hardy County Sheriff’s Department Cruiser causing Morris to lose control and crash. Morris fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit with the use of a WVSP K-9 he was arrested.

Morris was transported to Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, VA for injuries suffered in the crash.
