NWS confirms second tornado from Tuesday’s storms

TAYLOR COUNTY, W. Va. —

The National Weather service has found evidence of a second tornado part of Tuesday’s storms.

Just outside of Grafton between Route 310, also called Country Club Road, and just east of County Route 26/2, meteorologists confirmed a tornado touched down with max wind speeds of around 100 mph. This classifies it as an EF-1 tornado.

No fatalities or injuries have been reported at this time, but the storm damaged a home’s roof and destroyed a carport.

The tornado began at 3:55 p.m., had a maximum path width of 150 yards and touched down intermittently for 4.5 miles.

The Taylor County OEMS confirmed meteorologists from the NWS in Charleston went to two sites on Friday in Taylor County to inspect the damage.

The second site under analysis is near Tygrat Lake State Park and investigation is in the preliminary stage.

On Wednesday, meteorologists from the NWS in Pittsburgh confirmed an EF-1 tornado touched down in Marion and Monongalia Counties.
