NITRO, W.Va. – Several people left a Kanawha County movie theater Friday night after a man allegedly threatened to begin shooting a gun.

KCSO

Todd Ingram was arrested Friday night.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested Tod Austin Ingram, 52, of Cross Lanes, and charged him with making terroristic threats, a felony.

Investigators said Ingram was in one of the screening rooms at Great Escape Theater in Nitro at just before 9 p.m. Friday when fellow patrons said he was being loud and arguing with people during the movie. He then said he had a gun and threatened to shoot one of the patrons. Deputies arrived shortly and arrested him.

Deputies are asking people who left the theater to contact investigators to provide more information on what happened.

Ingram is in the South Central Regional Jail on $25,000 bail.

Wonder what movie he was at, the one staring a bunch of Apes?

    • JMR

I see what you did there! You tried to make a "funny" racial slur against black people. You made light of a stereotype about African-American people; That they talk during movies. AND you couldn't resist the urge to thus compare black people to apes because "Dawn of the Planet of Apes" is playing in theaters. And, as you CERTAINLY know, "apes" is a horrible, well known racial slur against black people. Silas, you are a living, breathing example of why people the world over look at West Virginia as a nightmarish, redneck cesspool of racism and white trash. Thanks.

Your statement about the way "people in the world look at WV" is highly offensive, you should deal with them rather than worrying about Silas.

  • lakeboy

he is usually passed out from a day of drinking by 6 pm. just stay home and sleep it off from now on tod ole boy!
a few days in jail may dry him up and he will finally get the help he has needed for many years. in patient and intensive!

This guy wasn't a felon, not according to a few articles I've seen. He has priors for domestic violence and DUI, neither are felonies. Although, he is prohibited from possessing firearms under the 1996 gun control act.

It's a good thing the Supreme Court ruled in US vs Hayes a few years ago that it was constitutional to prohibit those charged with domestic violence from possessing firearms.

That should serve as one example of smart gun control, which, unfortunately, in our current society is unable to be discussed rationally.

10 years, minimum. No excuses, no whining.

  • StarInWV

...same as yelling fire. Doesn't matter if he had a gun or not. He caused undue anxiety to the patrons and someone could have gotten hurt if there was a panic. And for the dude who asked why carry a gun? Well I don't own a gun and never even shot one, but I tell you if I moved to Charleston, I might consider getting one to protect myself and my family. Killing might be a sin, but being prepared is NOT!

To all dolts. Where in this story does it say he actually had a gun?

    • The Real Truth

      You sir are an idiot.

    • Diaspora

Well, I believe a bomb threat is a bomb threat whether or not you have a bomb. A threat is one crime, the actual use of what you threaten with is another.

    • Molon Labe

Well Randy, given todays world, only a "dolt" would just sit there and not take that threat seriously. He very well could have eaten those words.....

      Gun or no gun.

      • Randy

I agree with you. My comment was aimed at the gun bashers who didn't notice or didn't care if he actually had a gun. I would take any threat like that seriously.

    • Savage

It doesn't. I take it that the reason for no additional charges, like brandishing, or possession of a firearm without a permit.

  • Bartholomule

The gun law you are referring to would have had no effect on this guy. He's a CRIMINAL.

  • Big Deal

Why do people feel the need to carry a gun? Thou shall not kill! A gun is designed to kill. Can't be a Christian and a gun advocate. That logic doesn't make sense.

    • JMR

They have to carry a gun because they are gutless losers who enjoy making themselves feel big, intimidate other people, and scare little kids. Their entire identities are tied to guns. They don't have lives, so they have guns. They believe the idiocy that they hear on Fox News and from the NRA. They, for the most part, are lowlifes looking for trouble in a sparsely populated state with relatively little serious crime. JUST like the guy at the theater (but of course, he ended up not having a gun).

    • WSR

      You are a dumbass!!

    • arp

You are showing your ignorance of true Christianity. In Luke 22:36 Jesus is quoted as telling his disciples to arm themselves with swords, that day's equivalent to telling them to pack a handgun or two on their dangerous journey. The "turn the other cheek" instruction was about not taking revenge. Jesus did not preach against self protection and certainly not against protecting one's family.

    • BIM Job

Under what authority do you proclaim "Can't be a Christian and a gun advocate." Are you God?

    • Savage

Why can't Christians be gun advocates? Isn't there scripture that states, "But know this, if the owner of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and not allowed his house to be broken into". How can one construe that being a gun advocate for personal and property protection is none christian. Common sense applies, not fanatical Ideologies. I've never heard a Christian advocate murder. English Teacher, help!!!

Article has a bad source, I'm afraid.

    He was not armed.

The movie was interupted for less than five minutes while officers arrested him.

The only person that left the theatre was him. Even his movie companion stayed to finish the movie!

I thought the situation was very well handled.

  • Jim N Charleston

Well if he didn't have a gun, he's lying & begging to get shot.

Rule #1. You're gun must always be there.

I know someone related to him, this almost puts my friend in tears seeing what he is doing. Shame on him

  • BIM Job

The problem with gun control laws is they don't apply to idiots like this guy. He is going to break the law and bring a gun anyway. The only thing the gun control laws do is take the guns out of the hands of the people who would be able to put a bullet in the criminals head and keep him from killing many innocent people.

  • Dumb Liberals

I wonder if the other patrons were texting or talking on their cellphones during the screening? That's what the libtards of the Kanawha valley do, isn't it? Maybe he's suffering from on of the side effects Gupta is concerned with. Any of these reason would be grounds to justify shooting the place up!

    • Scott

You should be the next one to be arrested and investigated for making stupid comments that "Justify shooting up a theater" for people texting

  • Mike

Expect more of this to happen, when we easily put a gun into the hands of anyone who wants one and let them carry it anyplace they want.

    • Savage

I haven't put a gun in anyone's hands except my own. Quit giving your gun away to people you know shouldn't have them.

    • Molon Labe

Gun carry laws are for honest people. Not Sh!tbags.

He has a felony criminal history so he shouldn't have had one anyways. People who aren't supposed to have a gun will always get one one way or another.

It takes a sheep dog to keep the wolves away.

      • Jim

I think felons ought to have guns. When they get out of prison, they should have full constitutional rights, including the right to vote and the right to keep and bear arms. Just don't let anyone out of prison until you would be comfortable handing that man a gun.

        • Molon Labe

          This country always amazes me.

          • Bartholomule

You are correct. The folks that don't know the law will always lump all gun owners together because they are too lazy to find out the truth.
