Motorcyclist killed in U.S. Route 60 crash

HUGHES CREEK, W.Va. — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening on U.S. Route 60 in eastern Kanawha County.

Sheriff’s deputies identified the victim as Robert Payne, 52, of Barboursville. 

Investigators said Payne was traveling toward Charleston near Hughes Creek when his motorcycle went off the right hand side of the road. Payne was ejected from the bike and killed. The accident happened at around 5:43 p.m.

Deputies said there was no evidence that Payne struck a deer as was originally reported to Kanawha County Metro 911.

An investigation into the deadly crash continues.
