Woman charged with making up story about Beckley doctor

BECKLEY, W.Va. — Raleigh County Prosecutor Kristin Keller said Friday a woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted by a Beckley OB/GYN doctor last week lied about it.

Keller announced Kimberly Dawn Adkins has been charged with making up the story against Dr. Michael Webb. Adkins’ boyfriend, Alvin Williams, is charged with malicious wounding after attacking Webb after learning of the alleged assault.

Prosecutor Keller said what Adkins, 31, did started what could have been a “homicidal attack on a completely innocent man,” according to a report in the Beckley Register-Herald Saturday.

Williams’ preliminary hearing was Friday. He waived it. The magistrate denied a motion to reduce his $100,000 bail. Adkins is also in the Southern Regional Jail charged with three felonies. Her bail is also $100,000.

Dr. Webb, who was in the courtroom Friday, is recovering after suffering broken bones in his face from the attack.

Prosecutor Keller said Dr. Webb was never under suspicion. She said investigating officers didn’t taken Adkins’ claims as credible.
