HUNTINGTON, W.Va.—Contests against South Carolina and Penn State as well as the annual tilt with intrastate rival West Virginia highlight the Thundering Herd’s non-conference basketball schedule this season. The athletic department released the 2014-15 non-conference schedule on Tuesday.

“Our schedule has a little bit of everything,” Marshall first-year coach Dan D’Antoni said. “Our fans deserve a great brand of basketball all the way around and we plan to give it to them. I know nothing but the greatest support from when I was a player here (1966-69) and I plan on that continuing while I am the coach.”

D’Antoni makes his collegiate coaching debut against Jacksonville State on Nov. 14. The Herd will be tested early on in the season. Marshall’s first road trip takes it to the KFC Yum! Center on Nov. 21 to meet new ACC member Louisville. The first week of December brings South Carolina to the Henderson Center on Dec. 1 and Penn State on Dec. 6. It’s the first time in program history Marshall will host two power conference schools at the Henderson Center in the same season.

“I could not be more excited to have Coach D’Antoni directing our basketball program as we embark on our most fan-friendly, non-conference home schedule since I have been at Marshall,” Marshall Director of Athletics Mike Hamrick said. “This schedule, coupled with a new-look C-USA, will provide our fans an opportunity to watch quality NCAA basketball.”

    12-0.......31-11.

  • Jabo

That Dec. 14th is gonna be rough for Marsha...jus sayin.

  • eerdiot patrol

We were going to play WVU but having them on the schedule would weaken it considerably. We picked up Ohio instead to make it stronger. You know, with WVU being #99 and all.

  • eerdiot patrol

Funny. The wvu players seemed to think they won the superbowl the way they celebrated afterward. Poor jealous wvu fans. All you can do is live in the past now that you have a perennial door mat team that will never do better than 4-8

  • Golden Bear

Tech? I can't believe boys up at the "block T" up in Montgomery scheduled down with Moo.

  • Drama Queen Conservative Troll

I suppose for 2014, now is the best opportunity to say: the greatest comeback game in WVU football history was Geno Smith's single-handed picking apart the apparent MU victory in Huntington, 2010. Too bad the great comeback was against Marshall, and not a big time program.

  • what?

Probably a little. I forgot what it was like to deal with illogical people. WVU has dealt for years with trying to break "perceptions" (by the way, many still think your a joke). You'd think being on the whipping end would make you sympathetic to others trying to "better" themselves. For many WVU fans it has. You well, I just enjoy watching you and william making arses out of yourselves.

  • Dana Is A Girls Name

Hamrick already turned down a promoter wanting MU to play VT in DC to keep the home game. Apparently your AD doesnt care about keeping home games for the fans.

  • Dana Is A Girls Name

WVU playing a conference schedule over their head and losing repeatedly isnt an accomplishment.

Grammar Smack = no meaningful reply

  • Jabo

    Amen!! Little brother is scared.

  • Mike

Made you mad huh!! You will get over it.

  • what?

That was a book wasn't it.

  • what?

    Liberty? The old Big East?

No one should be arguing that the two schedules are comparable. There not. It was your homeboy who said we should upgrade. I merely asked how? Don't you think we would jump at a "power conference" and a "big boy" schedule?

So if you have any legitimate suggestions, shoot. If your here just to poke fun, continue. I like banter as much as the next guy. WVU fans of all people should know that others like to make fun at others expense from time to time.

  • Mister Man

As your wife asks, are you finished yet?

  • Mister Man

    C-USA?

  • Mister Man

    WVU Tech?

  • Mister Man

MU AD should pimp out MU to the highest bidder for an out of state game. LOL!!!!!!!!

  • what?

    James Madison? GA. State?

  • what?

Listen, I have not made one argument that would equate your school with the one I follow. You started the comments by making an assanine statement. Furtthmore you can't give a valid response to my inquiry which proves you're a troll. Do you want to talk sports or continue acting like a horse's rear?
By the way, don't programs usually compare themselves with teams they are concerned about? So constantly comparing your record to ours means....
Look, I have wasted too much on you already. There are plenty of WVU fans who talk sports realistically. Your kind are why WVU fans constantly rank as some of the worst.
Good day (by the way, I can see the steam from your ears from hear. It would kill me to think my life revolved around how young men did playing a game).

  • Mister Man

    Prognosticators "who."

  • Mister Man

    *Their are?

  • Mister Man

    And, Marshall plays in C-USA.

  • Mister Man

That might be true but uhmmm....aight den.

  • Mister Man

    Fairmont State?

  • Mike

12-0 in Football, 31-11 in Basketball. I don't need to call Ollie. Your AD needs to grow a pair and make the call. It s not up to me. But I guess any excuse will do. MU will never be,as you said it, playing with the big boys. MU will allways be the little sister in WV sports. You know it,you just don't have the guts to say it.

  • Interesting123

    Bring On The Herd!!

  • Dana Is A Girls Name

Dang Mike its too bad Ollie is busy pimping WVU out to the highest bidder for an out of state game or MU could play WVU. That wouldnt help our schedule perception much though. Since two separate newspapers have WVU coming in at #78 and #99 MU would still be perceived as playing easy teams. Even WVU's own atheltic director says the record will stink this year. Their are other prognosticators that agree with his predictions as well.

  • what?

So call Ollie. We'll schedule you guys ( yes I am considering you a " big boy"... second thought, maybe we should call Kansas).
You certainly know scheduling bball is far different than football. The " big boys" scream about revenue so Alabama sure as hell isn't going to Boise. All the while trying to make sure the "power conferences" don't really grow any more.
So let's see who is honest: pray tell how would you "upgrade" MU's schedule?

  • Mike

Now if the MU football team had the b***S to play real teams then maybe they would not get ragged on by some of us WVU fans. Its to easy to rag on the MU football team because they play in C-USA. Any real MU fan that would tell the truth knows this. However MU football fans wont tell the truth out load.
