Father charged with leaving child in hot car

WHEELING, W.Va. — A Wheeling Island man is in jail on $50,000 bail after allegedly leaving his 18-month-old daughter in a hot car Thursday.

Cory Rockhold is charged with child neglect.

Wheeling police said they found Cory Rockhold, 33, passed out on couch Thursday afternoon after noticing the little girl locked in the car. Police said she was asleep but soaking in sweat.

Rockhold is charged with felony child neglect.

The U.S. transportation secretary announced a new national campaign Thursday centered on the increasing number of cases where children are left in vehicles.
